Explosion Sends Shock waves as a U.S. Arms Depot in Japan is Rocked With a Devastating Blast

Only weeks have passed by since the devastating twin explosions in Tianjin, China sent shock waves around the world last August 12, 2015 and yet another blast rocked an arms depot in Tokyo, Japan.

The incident took place last August 23, 2015 located at Sagami General Depot. The United States military uses the depot as a base to stockpile ammunition, fuel, nitrogen and many more. The local fire department in the surrounding are was quickly alarmed of the devastating explosion which happened at peak midnight. Arrived at the scene were ten fire trucks sent to extinguish the raging flames and keep the situation under control.
Luckily no tallies of deaths or injuries have been recorded from the explosion. As of now investigations are currently taking place to determine what triggered the blast, but an army spokesman ruled out the possibility of hazardous material involvement as the cause of the explosion.

"A pillar of orange rose to the skies, and the air was filled with the smell of gunpowder."

An eyewitness of the devastating blast was caught unaware, as he said: "I was asleep, and at first I thought it might have been the roar of thunder. But then there was a sequence of explosions for 10, maybe 15 minutes. A pillar of orange rose to the skies, and the air was filled with the smell of gunpowder."
"There are no reports of injury, and base firefighters and first respondents are currently fighting the resulting fire to prevent its spread to nearby buildings." Navy commander Bill Urban reported.

Walls of the one-story building managed to survive the barrage of explosions, but windows, doors, and the roofs have fallen to the raging explosion.

The Sagami General Depot is host to the headquarters of the 35th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of the U.S. wherein they store and stock their ammunition's and chemicals. As of now, the exact cause of what triggered the blast is still unknown. You can watch the video below and see the impact of the explosion.
