In light of the controversial statements made by the Head Coach of China's Basketball team, Gong Luming at a press conference, a British national wrote an open letter to the president of People's Republic of China in response to the rather offensive statements of Coach Luming. Malcolm Conlan, the Brit who claims that he is a 'pinoy at heart' elaborated his thoughts and opinions in a letter which he deemed inappropriate towards the Philippines. Before the final bout of the FIBA Asia 2015 Championship, the British national sent an open letter to the president of China, and here is the statement that Mr. Conlan wrote regarding the controversial statements of Coach Luming.

Coach Luming was interviewed before the game, and his confidence in his basketball team winning the championship eventually led to him stating a rather debatable comment, saying "I am very confident. I am so confident that I'm willing... I'm willing to make a bet. If we lose, they can have the Spratly Islands." Everyone is well aware that the aforementioned island is a part of the Philippines, and China is claiming the island as part of their country. It has been an ongoing debate for the two countries, and surely it wasn't a topic that should be mentioned in a basketball game which caused an uproar from netizens and Filipinos. After eventually winning the FIBA championship, China has been receiving heat from various angles, some speculating that the basketball game was rigged so that their team would win the championship.This caused massive controversy across the whole nation, and even the NBA commented on the allegedly rigged game. And now they're drawing controversy once again caused by Coach Luming. In Mr. Conlan's letter, he stated that "You [China] cannot give back something which did not belong to you in the first place, that is generally known as theft. Secondly, the Spratly Islands are not to be treated as some kind of pawn in a high stakes gambling match. The Spratly Islands are a valuable asset which historical evidence has proven belong to the Philippine people." Even netizens sounded on their own opinion, stating that it was a foolish and unknowledgeable comment that resembles the true identity and color of the Chinese nation. They also applauded Mr. Conlan for defending the Philippines with his statement, as Filipinos welcome him as a true Filipino at heart who's proud of the country. Mr. Conlan also stated that his wife is a Filipina, and he also has relatives who are also Filipinos from both the Philippines and the United Kingdom. Respect has been given to Mr. Conlan in his open letter, and everyone is hoping the president of China takes notice of the letter and recognizes the offensive statements Coach Luming has stated in his interview before the basketball game. The Gilas Pilipinas team vowed redemption in the 2016 Summer Olympics. And certainly there's a fire burning in their hearts in representing Filipino pride in making a comeback against the humbling defeat of China.


Mr. Conlan certainly gained respect and admiration from many Filipinos and netizens for his open letter. HONOLULU - Kobe Bryant was reportedly "very disappointed" with the lack of professionalism displayed by the FIBA referees and the stadium security.

The media caught up with Kobe Bryant after practice at the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Stan Sheriff Center and asked him several questions regarding his health and the upcoming preseason exhibition between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz.

When asked whether he watched the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship tournament the Black Mamba said, "I watched the finals. Yeah, the Chinese national team vs the Philippines."



"It would've been fun to see Jordan Clarkson there," Bryant said. Clarkson was supposed to be part of the Gilas Pilipinas squad but because of time restraints, the Lakers didn't clear him to play overseas.

When asked what he thought on the controversial officiating and off-court events before and during the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship Bryant said, "I was told that the Philippine team was having issues with transportation or something similar. The fishy thing is when they only attempted to fix the net when their crew was warming up. I'm not pointing fingers, but you know there's got to be something going on [laughter]."

"I didn't think too much about the early calls, but when they called the Filipino point guard for travelling while he was dribbling the ball, I knew something was wrong," Bryant said referring to a moment in the game when Jayson Castro William was called for a travel although he never moved his pivot foot before dribbling the ball.



The 5-time NBA World Champion also shook his head when showed the footage of several fans taunting the Gilas Pilipinas bench.

"Like I said, it is what it is. I hope the Philippine team still gets in the Olympics at Rio. [There's] still the qualifiers. It's not the end of the road for them. As for China, they have an impressive youthful squad. No matter the off-court antics are, they wouldn't get to where they are now without good staff and coaching."

Kobe Bryant expressed his excitement to play the upcoming NBA season alongside star rookie D'Angelo Russell telling the media that he's not afraid to play as a forward if he has to. "All for the team, man. All for that ring."

Basketball at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will be held from 6 to 21 August 2016. The preliminary and knockout matches for both men and women will be played inside the first hall of the Olympic Training Center in Olympic Park which seats up to 16,000 spectators.

ESPN: Kobe Bryant on season opener against Utah Jazz

CHANGSHA - Scouts at the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship are eyeing the two Gilas Pilipinas rising stars for potential careers in the NBA.

Of the 30 teams in the NBA, 9 sent official talent scouts to the FIBA Asia Championship tournament held in Changsha in China. Among these are the Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat -- all of which are interested in both Terrence Romeo and Calvin Abueva.


Romeo, a Far Eastern University alumnus, is currently signed in the Philippine Basketball Association team GlobalPort Batang Pier. While Abueva, a Sebastino, is currently signed to the Alaska Aces.

Out of all the NBA teams interested in the two, the Miami Heat organization is apparently the closest to offering Terrence Romeo a 10-day contract albeit with their NBA D-League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce. This is according to multiple sources present in Changsha including the scout himself who refused to be identified on this publication.

Gilas Pilipinas faces the Chinese basketball team tonight at 8:30 PM Manila time for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship crown and a trip to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

CHANGSHA - Head coach Gong Luming is so confident that they'll win versus Gilas Pilipinas that he's willing to bet the Spratly Islands.


After China's dominant win versus Iran in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship semi-finals, head coach Gong Luming was asked which team he'd like to face in the finals. "I believe the Philippines has a better chance of getting into the finals. No disrespect to Japan," he replied.

When asked what he thinks China's chances are of beating the Philippines in the finals Gong Luming said, "I am very confident. I am so confident that I'm willing... [paused, laughter] I'm willing to make a bet. If we lose, they can have the Spratly Islands." The whole press room laughed at the obvious jab into politics.

No more than two hours later, Coach Baldwin's Gilas Pilipinas squad held off a very game Japan in their bracket's semi-finals which sets up the China-Philippines match tomorrow at 8:30 PM (Manila time).

The 2015 FIBA Asia Championship for Men is the 28th continental basketball championship in Asia. The tournament is organised by FIBA Asia. The winner of the tournament qualifies for the basketball tournament on the 2016 Summer Olympics, while the next three best teams will participate at the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Men, as stated by FIBA and the IOC in qualification quota.

China's economy is the largest in the world. They hold the lead for the title of being the top global producer by a wide margin. Electronics, toys, clothing and just about everything is produced in mass numbers, as China is also one of the countries responsible for shelling out beloved smartphones such as the iPhone and mostly the iPad. The question is whether the quality of products from China are on par with the global market today. China is prominent for producing inferior and low class products, as they are also the leading country distributing knock-offs and fake branded goods. Due to the low cost of labor in China mainly because of it's humongous population, producing inferior products makes it easy for them to circulate the money spent on their own country, matching the competitive pricing in the global market.

While they are certainly capable of producing products well above the standards of the global market and compete, most people are known for the idea that when a product is made in China, you can assure that it is of inferior quality, with defects and sub-par performance from gadgets and electronics. Well this is one of the more unusual reports from China recently, and it's sure bound to grab headlines. Guys who are deprived of love and intimacy, read on brother. China has implemented its one child policy to control their growing population that may have created a massive gender imbalance with millions more men than women in the country, but one city is bucking the trend of the nation with so many women living there that most men have two or three girlfriends. Yes you read it right. For some it may be classed as "three-timing", but in one Chinese city having three girlfriends is apparently seen as the norm.
The bizarre twist in the Chinese shortage of women story centres around the populous city of Dongguan, in south China’s Guangdong Province, known for producing popular electronics such as iPhones and iPads. But local manufacturers running assembly plants prefer not to use men as they find them unreliable and instead offer work mainly to women. Local factories in Dongguan prefer to hire women to run the assembly plants. This means the city has more women than men, with the men taking casual work, leaving them with plenty of time; at least to find themselves more than one girlfriend. Some admit they have two or three permanent girlfriends at the same time. One man told Chinese TV: "It is a lot easier here to find a girlfriend than a job." The rather weird gender ratio of women to men has recently led to Dongguan being branded as the "capital of sex" with many women still willingly and knowingly involve themselves in relationships with men who are already taken.

While in other countries it's very hard to find one girlfriend at all, it seems China is begging to differ. We expect to see a spike in tourism soon in Dongguan.

BEIJING - After NASA's successful flyby of Pluto with its New Horizons spacecraft, China has published a statement that they own the dwarf planet.

The sovereign state's statement has been partially translated and contained the following claims:


"The People's Republic of China is the rightful owner of the ninth planet Pluto. When it was declared by the majority that Pluto was no longer a planet, we did not lose hope for it. That is why our people, the Chinese people, have been designated by the heavens to step foot on the 9th planet and nobody else."

Netizens took to Twitter and Facebook to protest China's claims and trended the topic #PlutoIsAFreePlanet for 15 minutes before being out-trended by #AwwPlutoHasAHeart.

BEIJING - "Don't torture yourself with Filipino internet speed, subscribe to us now for the fastest broadband in Mainland China," said one of the TV commercials for China Telecom's service.

China Telecom is a Chinese state-owned telecommunication company that also provides wired and wireless internet for 80.33% of Mainland China (Q1 2015). Their average internet speed is 18.3 Mbps, but has limitations on which sites their subscribers can visit.

Philippine telcos came under fire early this year for being in the bottom three of the slowest internet speed in Asia. The average being 3.6 Mbps compared to China's 18.3 Mbps.

Filipinos took to Twitter to voice their displeasure over the Chinese telco ad and pressure has been put on local telcos to boost internet speed. "It's inexcusable that we're one of the most advanced countries in Asia in terms of economy, yet our internet speed is in the bottom 3," said one of the users on Twitter.

NEW YORK - Adam Silver, the commissioner of the National Basketball Association, has announced in a presser today that the league is interested in expanding its market to the Philippines, Spain, China and Lithuania.

The NBA published a statement to the media that stated its interest to expand its reach globally. "The NBA is watched in over 200 countries. Basketball is truly worldwide. We plan to expand our league to big basketball markets in Asia and Europe."

"The level of competition will be the same, since the expansion won't mean that they'll be national teams. They will still have to draft and sign players in the NBA," clarified Silver. "We are taking this big step to truly make NBA a global authority in basketball."

The FIBA has announced their support for the move, saying that "the more these countries are exposed to basketball, the more they'll be interested in watching national teams compete against each other."

As part of the expansion to the four countries. Scouts have been encouraged to look for talent within the regions. Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. is seen by the Philippines as the one to spearhead the influx of Filipino basketball players in the NBA.

Parks, who was known for his heroics in National University, has been scouted by multiple NBA teams including the Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings.

The NBA gave the Philippines a taste of a league game when the Houston Rockets versed the Indiana Pacers in a preseason exhibition back in 2013 as part of its NBA Global Games world tour.

BEIJING - "It's our culture. If they don't like it, they can [expletive] off," cried one of the protesters at the Philippine embassy in Beijing. The Chinese protesters bashed the people who tried to stop the Yulin festival through the internet, primarily Filipinos.
