Fans and Enthusiasts Bid Goodbye to OPM Rock Band Legend Kamikazee

After 15 years of lighting up the whole nation with their iconic music and spearheading the rise of the local rock scene, Kamikazee finally decided to pull the plug and leave the guitars, drums, and the microphones to rest as they complete their epic legacy, becoming one of the most celebrated rock bands the Philippines has ever heard and witnessed. The pop punk band was formed in 2000 with Jay Contreras on vocals, Jomal Linao and Led Tuyay on guitars, bassist Puto Astete and drummer Bords Burdeos. The band has released four studio-length albums, and their influential rock music has reached mainstream popularity throughout the whole nation and reshaping the local rock music landscape for years to come. The band announced on January 25, 2015 that they would disband at the end of the year, although they clarified that it was not a break up but merely a hiatus on band activities. The band told fans that they would surely see the band again in the future. But this time, they decided that after 15 long years of dedicating their mind, body and soul in giving fans resounding music, it was time to finally end the saga, with a curtain call that signified that the days of the Kamikazee are over.

They held their final gig, bidding goodbye to the music industry for one last time. Parokya Ni Edgar, also one of the most influential and prominent rock bands in the Philippines, posted an emotional photo on their Facebook page with frontman Chito Miranda and Kamikazee's vocalist Jay Contrera taken 12 Monkey’s Music Pub in Makati City on September 28,2015. The photo was taken by @pinedajason and posted on Instagram, as he was one of the people who witnessed Kamikazee's final gig in their illustrious 15-year career. The band's emotional members sung their farewell song "Huling Sayaw", as it signified their final moments being together as a band. Fans payed tribute to the band's massive influence in each of their lives, as they bid farewell to the iconic rock band, posting on Instagram with the hashtag #‎HulingSayaw.

Many fans felt devastated and stunned when the band announced they were disbanding, but after 15 years of being in the music industry and being one of the most influential rock bands the Philippines has ever seen and heard, they offered their sincerest gratitude and expressed deep emotions for their OPM rock icons. They will be having their farewell concert this December 2015 to close the books on a 15-year journey. The band may no longer be together after that, but their music will live on in the hearts of many who they inspired and influenced with their original pinoy rock music.
